Kabbalah Society Annual Summer School – Gloucestershire, UK – September 1st-4th 2020

Hawkwood College, Stroud, Gloucestershire, England

THE WAY OF KABBALAH

Facilitators: Kurt Browne and Joanne Lapage-Browne

After over 30 years of running Summer Schools, our teacher Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi (Warren Kenton) decided, at the age of 82, that it was time for him to rest from this task. He announced that 2014 would be his final Summer School and this was very sad news for us all. There was a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the tradition that he has passed on to us so faithfully over the years. This he continues to do, with the support of his wife Rebekah.

Despite having to accept that it was the end of a remarkable era, many who attended expressed their wish to keep that annual space for the school to meet, study, meditate and enjoy the company of good companions. The work goes on.

Warren had previously approached us to ask if we would be prepared to take over the running of the annual Summer School, and we accepted, very aware of the great responsibility involved. Our intention is to continue to pass on the teaching of the Toledano Tradition, so clearly reformulated by Warren, to make it applicable to everyday life.

During the four days, contemplation, slide lectures, guided imagery meditation and ritual, will assist us in bringing the principles to life through experience and reflection. The afternoon breaks will allow time for solitude, conversation and local trips or walks in the beautiful grounds and woods.

The format for each day:

Breakfast – 8.30 am
Session 1 – 9.30 am – 11.00 am
Coffee – 11.00 am – 11.30 am
Session 2 – 11.30 am – 12.45 pm
Lunch – 1.00 pm
Afternoon free
Tea – 4.00 pm
Session 3 – 4.30 pm – 6.00 pm
Supper – 6.30 pm
Session 4 – 8.00 pm – 9.15 pm

Books: A bookshop will be available during the course for those who wish to purchase Kabbalah Society books.

Kabbalah and the Divine Feminine – Devon, UK – March 1st 2020

Kabbalah and the Divine Feminine.

Maggy Whitehouse

LOCATION: EXETER, DEVON. Booking via Colin John. 01392 221066 / 07376 489302 email: colinjohn1st@outlook.com.

DATE: Sunday 1st March. Cost: £35.

Stories of love, hate, adultery, deception, betrayal, murder, compassion and redemption — it could be any soap opera on the television today.  But this is a much older production; a blockbuster told by over 20 generations of feisty and powerful women, every one of whom still has something to teach us today.

We will learn of the different levels of humanity and how rising to the place of the Soul can transform our own lives just as the heroines of the Bible discovered. They can be our guide to our own Soul’s purpose.

Maggy will weave the story of Sophia, the feminine wisdom tradition from Shekhinah to Mary Magdalene via the women of the Bible — including Sarah (survival), Rebekah (ego), Ruth (self-knowledge), Jael (discernment) and Esther (unconditional love).

We will look at these Matriarchs and Heroines through the filter of Judaic mysticism and historical and social fact to see what we can still learn from them today. Each of them is an archetype within us and can show us our strength – and our shadow.

We humans are complicated, dualistic beings, focused on being busy and appreciated and fretting about external circumstances such as finances, work and the troubles of the world. From birth, we are trained to fit in and, whether we agree or rebel, our ego’s belief about what is right and what is wrong will drive our lives unless we make conscious efforts to change that.

We know that we are a soul with a body, not the other way around, but the soul seems to be a slippery thing and there is so much confusion about what is self, soul, spirit and higher self. Kabbalah offers a clear and practical design that shows us clearly the difference between who we think we are (ego), who we truly are (self), who we are meant to be (soul), who we came here to learn to become (higher self) and the help that is perennially available (spirit).

Using stories, discerning through Kabbalistic astrology, the blueprint of each participant’s soul, practical exercises and a life-changing internal journey to the heavenly Jerusalem, we will learn to recognise, listen to, and understand the levels within us in order to become our best (and happiest) selves.

All participants are requested to let Maggy have their birth data to help them understand the blueprint of their soul.

Kabbalah and the Way of Myth – Hawkwood College – Stroud, UK – August 31st-September 1st 2020

Workshop: Kabbalah and the Way of Myth

In this course we will explore through theory and practice, the metaphysics of Kabbalah in relation to the rich inner world of the collective unconscious. The way of Kabbalah and myth is the path into ourselves.

Tutor biography:  Mike Bais, born and living in the Netherlands is by profession a physiotherapist and a teacher in university for medical and therapeutic studies. He has run his practice for over 18 years where he gives counseling and therapy from a holistic perspective. He teaches the esoteric ways of the west in particular the tradition of Kabbalah (Toledano) and has written many articles on these subjects and is the author of the book: “A Kabbalistic view on science”. He is an ordained priest in the mystical-Christian tradition. He also leads a group called the ‘companions of the Round Table’.

In this course the metaphysics of Kabbalah will meet the wisdom of mythology. They will cross-fertilize each other as we work towards synthesis between this deep knowledge of the collective unconscious and that of the Tree of Life and Jacobs Ladder. The course will be dynamic as we integrate theory and practice and tap into the richness of the many mythological traditions that the worlds knows. It will be a personal journey into ourselves as the myth and Kabbalah are eventually about our inner life.

At a glance:

  • Intune to the myth on a personal level (living your own myth)
  • Integrate Kabbalah and mythological concepts
  • Practice our myths & Kabbalah so we have direct experience of them

What will participants gain:

  • Greater understanding and insights into the world of myth and Kabbalah
  • Self-knowledge through the instructive and animating power of myth
  • Learning more about the psychological and metaphysical structure of myth
  • Practical application of the way of myth and Kabbalah in your personal life

Main content:

Myth is as old as the human psyche, speaking its own language ever since. Kabbalah is an ancient tradition that has the metaphysical teachings to explain mythological concepts and make them real in our personal world of experience. Myth, like dreams have always been a mystery for most of mankind. It talks through metaphor, symbol, analogy and the heart. To participate in the myth is to participate in the language and that mysterious world of dreams and the imagination. Like it was said: ‘myth is something that never happened and is always happening’.

Join us in this dynamic course, where we will work with old texts, poetry, meditations and some practice, to express the myth in and through our own being. Like Joseph Campbell said: the myth has four functions which are a social & pedagogical, psychological & moral, metaphysical and mystical function. The Kabbalah in this course will explain what these mean for us personally. Joseph Campbell, the concept of the hero’s journey, Jungian analysis, alchemy, the Tree of Life and Jacobs Ladder of the Kabbalah will guide us in these days at Hawkwood College. If you wish to live your myth or grow closer to the myth you are already in-tuned with, this course might be something for you.
