After over 30 years of running Summer Schools our dear teacher Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi (Warren Kenton ) has decided, at the age of 82, that it is time for him to rest from this task.

He announced last year that it would be his final Summer School and this was very sad news for us all. There was a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation of the tradition that he has passed on to us so faithfully over the years, and this he continues to do, with the support of his wife Rebekah.

Despite having to accept that it was the end of a remarkable era, many who attended expressed their wish to keep that annual space for the school to meet, study, meditate and enjoy the company of good companions. The Work goes on.

Warren had previously approached us to ask if we would be prepared to take over the running of the annual Summer School and we accepted, very aware of the great responsibility involved.

Our intention is to continue to pass on the teaching of the Toledano Tradition, so clearly reformulated by Warren, and to make it real. During the four days, contemplation, slide lectures, guided imagery meditation and ritual will assist us to bring the principles to life through experience and reflection.

The afternoon breaks will allow time for solitude, conversation, local trips or walks in the beautiful grounds and woods.

Kurt Browne and Joanna Lapage-Browne

Kurt and Joanna have studied in the Toledano Tradition School of the Soul, founded by Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi (Warren Kenton), since the early 1970’s. They live and work in London and have a son, two daughters and three grandchildren. They have run Kabbalah groups together for the past 25 years and run courses on the living tradition in Europe, Africa, the USA, Mexico and Japan.

Hawkwood is an old English mansion with exceptional views overlooking the countryside, surrounded by woodland and fields. Even the distant mountains of Wales can be seen from there. While the course is intense, it is also a holiday in good company. Here, enduring friendships are forged between people from many lands.

This is a characteristic of the Kabbalah Society’s School of the Soul.

Kabbalah for the Spiritual Pilgrim – Three Day Workshops in Hertford (UK)

October 22nd, 2014

Kabbalah is the mystical teaching that underlies the Judaeo-Christian tradition.  Derived from the Hebrew to receive, it is an ancient teaching that offers a pathway to personal growth and self-knowledge.

The course is intended as a practical introduction to the ideas of the Toledano Kabbalistic tradition.  It is aimed at those seeking a spiritual path, or simply interested in exploring their spirituality.  Through understanding our place in the universe, we might find greater purpose in our lives and, thereby, a greater sense of peace within ourselves and with the world around us.

The course is non-denominational and no previous knowledge is needed, only an open mind.  Each day will consist of a talk, discussion and a guided meditation aimed at illustrating and illuminating the theme.  There is no requirement to attend all three, but a working knowledge of Kabbalistic language and principles (covered on day one) will help in understanding the themes of days two and three.

The course tutor, Adam Simmonds, has been studying Kabbalah for over 20 years. A teacher by profession, he has presented talks on Kabbalah in both the UK and Spain and co-directs a regular Kabbalah group at his home in Hertford.

Course outline:

Day One – Saturday 1st November, 10am-4pm

The Way of Kabbalah

An introduction to Kabbalistic principles, the Tree of Life, Jacob’s Ladder and the esoteric origins of Judaeo-Christian Spirituality.

Day Two – Saturday 21st February 2015, 10am-4pm

The Kabbalistic Journey – from Exodus to The Passion

How to approach scripture from an esoteric perspective, looking at how it can be used as a pathway to enlightenment without the overlay of religious dogma.

Day Three – April 2015, day tbc, 10am-4pm

The Path of the Kabbalist

The inner world of Kabbalistic spirituality, the angelic realms, astrology and Karma, and the Work and Responsibilities of the Pilgrim’s Path.

Cost per day is £40 (£30 full time students) including a light lunch and other refreshments.  A deposit (non-refundable) of £10 will be required to guarantee a place, and a maximum of 10 places will be available.

The course will be held in Hertford (UK) which is approximately 50 minutes by train from London, Kings Cross and 5 minutes walk from Hertford North station.

Full address details on application.

Kabbalah in Japan – Two Courses in Tokyo – November 2014

The Four Journeys of the Soul

Koenji – Tokyo

Kabbalah is a living tradition of universal principles, in its classical and contemporary form it is relevant to every nation and culture. The teaching is expressed in the diagrams of the Tree of Life and Jacob’s Ladder which contain the four levels within existence; physical, psychological, spiritual and divine.

The first journey of the soul begins in innocence in paradise with the descent into a human body in order to gain experience. The second journey of growth and individuation takes many lives to realize. The third journey is the return to teach and pass on what has been learned and the fourth journey is the return ‘home’ to union with the Absolute.

During the two days we shall examine the four journeys to make them relevant to our lives.

Sunday November 23rd and Monday 24th 2014

Moses and Exodus

Mitaka – Tokyo

The biblical story of Exodus, when understood allegorically, is an account of the soul’s journey from the limitations of the ego, constrained by instincts and conditioning, to the individuality of the Self and a vision of the transpersonal world.

It describes the interior stages of resistance, conflict, discipline and breakthrough together with the workings of providence and timing along the way.

During the two days we shall look at the archetypal story of Moses, his humanity, struggles and relationship with God, and the instructions he was given on the building of the inner temple and it’s relevance to our lives.

Bristol UK – Dream of the Cosmos – Anne Baring – November 15, 2014

August 25th, 2014

In association with the Toledano Tradition

A Day with Anne Baring

The Dream of the Cosmos:
Awakening to the Divine Feminine and the Soul

This Day as a whole is about discovering a new image of what it means to be human, no longer as a fallen species in need of redemption by a Saviour but an awakened species, aware of a new and conscious role as the servant of this planet and the Cosmos. This awakening was heralded by the teaching of the great visionaries of the past, and is happening now as we face the greatest crisis and the greatest challenge our species has ever had to face. It will address three fundamental questions: Who are we? Why are we here on this planet? How, through understanding our past and reconnecting with the Feminine, can we free ourselves from the need to repeat the traumas created by our past and present unconscious behaviour?

Saturday November 15th 2014
at the Harry Crook Theatre, Colston’s School, Bell Hill, Bristol BS16 1BJ from 9.30am to 5.00pm

10.00 – 11.20 The Great Mother and the Lunar Era

11.20 – 11.40 Coffee Break

11.40 – 1.00 The Great Father and the Solar Era

2.00 – 3.20 Awakening to the Divine Feminine and the Soul

3.20 – 3.40 Tea break

3.40 – 5.00 The Indwelling Spirit and the Great Work of Alchemy

Synopsis of Talks
1. The Great Mother and the Lunar Era: Original Participation
Our conscious rational mind has evolved out of the matrix of nature and beyond that, out of the matrix of cosmic life. In the first or lunar phase of this journey, we felt contained within the life of the Great Mother who was identified with the whole Cosmos. Life was a Sacred Order where Nature was experienced as a theophany. The origins of the idea of an ensouled harmonious Cosmos and the Oneness of life descend from this era.

2. The Great Father and the Solar Era: Separation and Dissociation
The gradual separation of the developing conscious ego from the deeper matrix of instinct; its effects and its shadow aspect reflected in mythology in the image of the Dragon. Rise of the Patriarchal Religions and the worship of the Great Father; the loss of divine immanence with the eradication of all traces of Animism. The influence of two very powerful myths: the myth of the Battle between Light and Dark, Good and Evil and the myth of the Fall of Man.

3. Awakening to the Divine Feminine and the Soul
Moving from fear to relationship. The message of the greatest spiritual teachers about the oneness and indivisibility of life. View of our planet from the moon. Definition of the Feminine as a totally different perspective on life: the rise of the environmental movement; the emancipation of women; rebalancing the masculine and the feminine in ourselves and in our culture. The definition of the Soul as an invisible Field or Web of Life underlying physical reality. The immortality of the soul and the existence of our subtle body.

4. The Indwelling Spirit and the Great Work of Alchemy: Final Participation
The three principal stages of the evolution of consciousness: Lunar, Solar and Stellar. Growing towards Stellar Consciousness. Alchemy and the transmutation of our understanding of life; opening our eyes to a different vision of reality and our own innate divinity as inhabitants and servants of the Cosmos. Re-integrating mind, soul and body. Moving to a new image of God or Spirit as present in all cosmic life and all levels of reality. The Dream of the Cosmos and our unlived potential as conscious co-creators with and servants of the Divine Ground.
