After over 30 years of running Summer Schools our dear teacher Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi (Warren Kenton ) has decided, at the age of 82, that it is time for him to rest from this task.

He announced last year that it would be his final Summer School and this was very sad news for us all. There was a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation of the tradition that he has passed on to us so faithfully over the years, and this he continues to do, with the support of his wife Rebekah.

Despite having to accept that it was the end of a remarkable era, many who attended expressed their wish to keep that annual space for the school to meet, study, meditate and enjoy the company of good companions. The Work goes on.

Warren had previously approached us to ask if we would be prepared to take over the running of the annual Summer School and we accepted, very aware of the great responsibility involved.

Our intention is to continue to pass on the teaching of the Toledano Tradition, so clearly reformulated by Warren, and to make it real. During the four days, contemplation, slide lectures, guided imagery meditation and ritual will assist us to bring the principles to life through experience and reflection.

The afternoon breaks will allow time for solitude, conversation, local trips or walks in the beautiful grounds and woods.

Kurt Browne and Joanna Lapage-Browne

Kurt and Joanna have studied in the Toledano Tradition School of the Soul, founded by Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi (Warren Kenton), since the early 1970’s. They live and work in London and have a son, two daughters and three grandchildren. They have run Kabbalah groups together for the past 25 years and run courses on the living tradition in Europe, Africa, the USA, Mexico and Japan.

Hawkwood is an old English mansion with exceptional views overlooking the countryside, surrounded by woodland and fields. Even the distant mountains of Wales can be seen from there. While the course is intense, it is also a holiday in good company. Here, enduring friendships are forged between people from many lands.

This is a characteristic of the Kabbalah Society’s School of the Soul.

SCHOOL OF THE SOUL

Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2015

(English spoken)

Magda van der Ende, Rene Rodenburgh and Mike Bais are three experienced teachers in the tradition of Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi. Now that Z’ev ben Shimon Halevi stops visiting one of the first schools outside Britain he founded, they took the initiative of continuing his teaching in the Netherlands and beyond. This international seminar is organised, so that people can continue to meet share and study his ideas. In this weekend we will explore the needs, opportunities and transformations of the soul in relation to the general scheme of existence.

Kabbalah for the Spiritual Pilgrim – Three Day Workshops in Hertford (UK)

Posted Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014

Kabbalah is the mystical teaching that underlies the Judaeo-Christian tradition.  Derived from the Hebrew to receive, it is an ancient teaching that offers a pathway to personal growth and self-knowledge.

The course is intended as a practical introduction to the ideas of the Toledano Kabbalistic tradition.  It is aimed at those seeking a spiritual path, or simply interested in exploring their spirituality.  Through understanding our place in the universe, we might find greater purpose in our lives and, thereby, a greater sense of peace within ourselves and with the world around us.

The course is non-denominational and no previous knowledge is needed, only an open mind.  Each day will consist of a talk, discussion and a guided meditation aimed at illustrating and illuminating the theme.  There is no requirement to attend all three, but a working knowledge of Kabbalistic language and principles (covered on day one) will help in understanding the themes of days two and three.

The course tutor, Adam Simmonds, has been studying Kabbalah for over 20 years. A teacher by profession, he has presented talks on Kabbalah in both the UK and Spain and co-directs a regular Kabbalah group at his home in Hertford.

Course outline:

Day One – Saturday 1st November, 10am-4pm

The Way of Kabbalah

An introduction to Kabbalistic principles, the Tree of Life, Jacob’s Ladder and the esoteric origins of Judaeo-Christian Spirituality.

Day Two – Saturday 21st February 2015, 10am-4pm

The Kabbalistic Journey – from Exodus to The Passion

How to approach scripture from an esoteric perspective, looking at how it can be used as a pathway to enlightenment without the overlay of religious dogma.

Day Three – April 2015, day tbc, 10am-4pm

The Path of the Kabbalist

The inner world of Kabbalistic spirituality, the angelic realms, astrology and Karma, and the Work and Responsibilities of the Pilgrim’s Path.

Cost per day is £40 (£30 full time students) including a light lunch and other refreshments.  A deposit (non-refundable) of £10 will be required to guarantee a place, and a maximum of 10 places will be available.

The course will be held in Hertford (UK) which is approximately 50 minutes by train from London, Kings Cross and 5 minutes walk from Hertford North station.

Full address details on application.

Kabbalah in Japan – Two Courses in Tokyo – November 2014

Posted Friday, October 10th, 2014

Sat. November 15th and Sun. 16th  2014

The Four Journeys of the Soul

Koenji – Tokyo

Kabbalah is a living tradition of universal principles, in its classical and contemporary form it is relevant to every nation and culture. The teaching is expressed in the diagrams of the Tree of Life and Jacob’s Ladder which contain the four levels within existence; physical, psychological, spiritual and divine.

The first journey of the soul begins in innocence in paradise with the descent into a human body in order to gain experience. The second journey of growth and individuation takes many lives to realize. The third journey is the return to teach and pass on what has been learned and the fourth journey is the return ‘home’ to union with the Absolute.

During the two days we shall examine the four journeys to make them relevant to our lives.

Sunday November 23rd and Monday 24th 2014

Moses and Exodus

Mitaka – Tokyo

The biblical story of Exodus, when understood allegorically, is an account of the soul’s journey from the limitations of the ego, constrained by instincts and conditioning, to the individuality of the Self and a vision of the transpersonal world.

It describes the interior stages of resistance, conflict, discipline and breakthrough together with the workings of providence and timing along the way.

During the two days we shall look at the archetypal story of Moses, his humanity, struggles and relationship with God, and the instructions he was given on the building of the inner temple and it’s relevance to our lives.
